The inherent beauty of teak is sure to complement your bathroom accessories and create a perfect decorative accent. Naturally high silica content makes this piece incredibly slip resistant. Crafted with quality wood, countersunk screws and rubber footing to protect your floors, this teak mat is nothing short of an investment. Proudly made in the U.S.A.
Our FSC certified teak wood comes from plantations of younger teak trees and requires little, if any, maintenance. Teak wood has a natural non-skid surface with barely any raised grain, making it the ideal solution for your bathroom. With naturally water resistant oils it is great in the bathroom or wherever you want - by the pool, on the deck or in the garden.
Burmese Teak: Our premium Teak which is pure heartwood from mature Teak trees grown in the Indonesia/South East Asia region. Heartwood Teak provides an elegant piece with unique grain patterns and a beautiful rich color giving any area an immediate WOW factor. The high silica content in teak makes it an ideal wood to use when a slip resistant surface is needed and the natural oil makes the wood resistant to mold and mildew.
Plantation Teak: Our FSC certified Plantation Teak comes from trees harvested from an actual plantation of younger Teak trees. Since we only use the heartwood of the tree, it has all the same qualities of old growth Burmese Teak but it is a little lighter in color and requires a little more maintenance.
Product Care: While teak is naturally resistant to bacteria and mildew, soap residue, minerals or other impurities from your water may start to form some build-up. Natural Wood Decor recommends cleaning your bench when you notice any build-up. For a quick cleaning, apply water with a soft bristle brush (a mild soap solution can be used as well) and lightly scrub the teak surface as well as the underside. Then rinse and allow to air dry.
To maintain the oil finished look is the same as maintaining your wood furniture. Every few months simply apply teak oil to the surface of your bench with a cloth. Of course, at any time you can choose to let the teak age naturally. In time the teak oil will dissipate and the teak's natural oil content will continue to ward off mold and mildew.
